In this episode of Public Comment, hosts Sarah LaFontaine and Elizabeth Hammond interview David Punchak, a North Smithfield town council member running for re-election. David discusses growing up in Lincoln, RI, in a neighborhood populated by extended family; his career in design, where the majority of his work involves budget-constrained municipal projects; and his volunteer history with town youth sports, including a tenure as soccer president that extended two years beyond his children's participation. The interview addresses the practical realities of local government, the factors that shape civic engagement, and the day-to-day work of a town council member.
